Kevin Michaluk is a Director of Photography based out of Portland, Oregon.
He approaches every project as a holistic collaborator, with the foremost priority of telling a good story well.
Whether a narrative, commercial, or music video—Kevin’s favorite type of project is one that evokes a sense of wonder, demands truth, and inspires everyone involved to climb to the next echelon of their creative ability. He is a passionate teammate, a natural leader, and an advocate for amplifying oft-dampened voices. He is a steadfast supporter of the local creative community through mentorship, facilitation, and opportunity.
Kevin was recently the cinematographer of the independent feature film Trash Baby.
A coming-of-age story set in an Oregon trailer park, the film is a love letter to the beauty of one of America’s often dismissed communities, and an honest look at the people that society openly calls trash.
In 2023, Kevin launched the Film PDX group on Facebook, which currently has more than 1300 members. The group acts as a support network and resource for PNW filmmakers and creatives at all levels. He also helped initiate the PDX Cinematographers cohort, which meets quarterly to promote wage transparency and healthy working conditions in the industry.
In addition to providing cinematography services, Kevin is the co-owner of Framework Studio in Southeast Portland. Check out the studio here!
Kevin has shot projects for numerous brands including:
